About Classes & Events

The 6th annual Fermentation Fest 2016 saw over 40 classes, hands-on workshops, tastings, lectures, and demonstrations, taught by renowned chefs, fermenters, artists, chocolatiers, herbalists, and bakers.

Above: Lactobacillus sp. Certain Lactobacillus species are used as starter cultures for controlled fermentation in the production of a variety of fermented foods.


FEATURED SPEAKERS – Fermentation Fest 2016 welcomesd two stars in the world of fermented foods!  Sandor Katz is the New York Times best-selling author of the The Art of Fermentation and Wild Fermentation and Peter Reinhart is the winner of four James Beard Books Awards including book of the year for The Bread Baker’s Apprentice.


REGISTRATION – All class and event registration takes place online. You can search for the events and classes by date, categories and presenters, on our website using the drop down bar on the main menu. We advise booking early as many of our events sell out.


LOCATIONS – Most classes and events are held locally in Reedsburg, except where noted. Exact venue and location details will be emailed to participants at least a week before the class/event.


SCHOLARSHIPS – We have a limited number of 50% scholarships available for students who cannot afford the full price of the class. To apply for a scholarship, you will need to submit an online application here.


VOLUNTEER – If you are interested in being part of the behind-the-scenes team that makes these events happen.


DONATE – You can make a donation to Fermentation Fest online or donate specifically to the scholarship fund when registering for your class. There will also be lots of places to donate to the Fest by cash or check in Reedsburg and along the DTour.
