Date and time: Oct. 1, 12:15-2:15pm

Experience yearly cycle of a Whooping Crane through an interpretive play put on by the International Crane Foundation. In the 1980s, ICF researchers began experimenting with costume-rearing of cranes. Today, ICF researchers care for young Whooping Cranes while wearing full-length crane costumes to hide their human form. They use hand puppets that mimic an adult crane’s head to interact with the chicks. Open your wings and migrate with us as we learn about this endangered bird species and the work being done to protect them!
