Beginning Brewing (2016)

Get a grip on the basics of homebrewing with in-depth instruction on ingredients, equipment and processes needed to brew. The talk covers the main procedures to homebrewing, specifically, a run through of making an extract batch. John introduces the components that make up a recipe,  how to interpret the relevant specifications, the equipment and tools used and finally how to take tasting notes!

John Puchalski is the manager of the supply shop Brew and Grow, located on Williamson street, Madison. He was hired as a fermentation expert due to his Associate Degree in brewing technology from the Siebel Institute, acquired after obtaining a BS in Psychology and a custom minor for Chinese Language and Culture from UW Whitewater. For the last three years he’s slowly added to his repertoire and knowledge to include any source of fermentable sugar, gardening with soil and hydroponics, and draft systems. He’s taught the beginning brewing course monthly at the shop and has several courses to expand on in the works.
