Introduction to Wine Tasting

Join us for a fun sensory introduction to one of the most popular forms of fermentation for the last 10,000 years.  Learn techniques for tasting, evaluating and getting more enjoyment from wine, l taste wines together and discuss how tasting experiences and palates vary. We’ll cover terminology, some popular grape varietals, practical guidance on how to read labels, how to open and store wine and why stemware matters.

Kevin Appleton graduated college with a teaching degree and pursued his passion for cooking at the Cooking & Hospitality Institute of Chicago and the French Pastry School.  Kevin has worked in fine dining restaurants in Chicago and Melbourne, Australia.  He was the Executive Chef for the Institute of Culinary Arts at Robert Morris College in Chicago and was the Chef for Vom Fass Madison for 5 years. He has won several cooking awards and has appeared on live TV demos, local news publications and on NPR.  Kevin joined the Madison College Culinary Arts faculty in 2009 and shares his expertise and love of good food and drinks a wider audience through these courses.
