The Dirt on Compost

Converting food waste into fertile soil is one of the most important elements of sustainable agriculture and a successful home garden. Learn several methods to transform your household or farm waste into nutrient-rich, sweet-smelling compost. Help build a compost bin and go home with worms and knowledge to start your compost pile and worm bin!

Jay Salinas, co-founder of the Wormfarm Institute and CSA farmer since 1995 has developed large- scale vermicompost systems for Milwaukee’s Growing Power. Class will be held outdoors and some will be hands-on, so come prepared to use a shovel, get a little dirty and handle worms.
