Mezcal from Farm to Glass

Eduardo Angeles is a fourth-generation maestro mezcalero from rural Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca. He follows the ancestral fermentation and distillation techniques that his great-grandfather established for the family business. Learn about his rustic methods and taste the results in this hour-long session with one of Mexico’s greatest master distillers.





Eduardo Ángeles is a maestro mezcalero from the village of Santa Catarina Minas in the state of Oaxaca Mexico. He began working with his father when he was 11 years old, producing agave spirits in the traditional, artisanal method his family has practiced for four generations.Lalo, as his friends call him, bottles his spirits under the brands Sacapalabras and Mezcal Lalocura, both of which are revered in Mexico, neither of which are available outside of Mexico.
